11.58am – Doomben – BARAZIN

Barrier 1 for a get-back horse isn’t ideal, but unfortunately that’s the least of my concerns.

At present, he looks like he’s racing with two flat tyres and the RACQ bloke has stopped answering his calls.

On my ratings, he’s around 3–4 lengths off about five of these, which makes him very hard to recommend on current form.

His old form could certainly win a race like this — the problem is his old form appears to have changed its phone number and moved interstate.

Place confidence: 3/10

We’ll cheer loudly, but bet quietly.

2.15pm – Rosehill – SILVANITO

One of the more consistent horses in training and he should get a lovely soft run from the gate here.

He’s a genuine winning chance and clearly our best runner of the day.

Doesn't need a miracle, a priest, a rain dance or three horses to mysteriously disappear — he just needs to run to his usual form.

Each-way confidence: 7/10

3.44pm – Kembla Grange – PONZI SCHEME

This is a really nice horse, but bloody hell, he’s managed to find a deep enough race, headed by the Waterhouse/Bott runner.

Ponzi Scheme has only had the one start, but on that occasion he played up like a two-bob watch in the yard, so his manners are the first thing to watch.

Hopefully he's matured from that experience and arrives today understanding he's there to race horses rather than audition for the rodeo.

There is genuine ability there, though, and if he behaves himself he's certainly capable of running a big race.

And with a name like Ponzi Scheme, if we're all broke by 4pm at least the warning was clearly displayed on the packet.

4.40pm – Rosehill – GROUP 2 – LORD OF BISCAY

Gets Dylan Gibbons, which is a nice positive.

But boy oh boy, this is a bloody deep race.

Despite winning the $1 million race last preparation, I'm still not convinced we saw the absolute best version of him.

To win this, we're going to need the full-fat Lord of Biscay — not the Aldi home-brand version.

If he produces his best, he absolutely has the ability to be competitive, but against opposition this strong there is nowhere to hide.

At this level everyone can fight — we're just hoping our bloke remembered to bring both gloves.
