Welcome to your weekend guide for the Daily Runners with Australian Bloodstock.
**11:43 am - Doomben – Barazin - $35**
A talented horse on his day, but can mix his form. Soft ground should be fine. I'm not sure he can win here, though. Just looking for a whole-hearted effort, and for the punters, it might be best to watch and cheer. EW confidence is 2/10.
**1:05 pm - Newcastle – Zouboy - $3.20**
A first starter who has trialled OK. No stars in the race, but the race is 1.5 lengths stronger than you normally get, so it will be a good test. I want to see him under pressure, and 900m is its only specialist distance range. Win confidence is 6/10 due to these factors.
**1:55 pm - Randwick - Miss Busslinger - $21**
Should have finished much closer in the $1m Provincial Champs Final when not tested. Whilst we have plenty of luck as a business, spare a thought for these owners. In her last 3 races she has nominated to run, she has drawn barrier 21, 18, and 19! And here we draw 14. She is trying hard and will do her best. A good roughie, but on my figures, she needs to find 2-3 lengths to win (her old form would see her as the favourite). EW confidence for me is 5/10.
**2:03 pm - Doomben - Pereille - $23**
Yet another Stakes race for this guy and a race we have won in the past. Above-average speed, gun rider, amazing price, gun trainer. This is the type of horse you want to be with. He's going well and loves wet ground. He will get back and need luck, but I do think the price is wrong. EW confidence is 6/10. I think he will give a HUGE SIGHT.
**2:15 pm - Newcastle - TOO DARN FINESSE - $8**
A shock winner first-up last prep, then ran to that number 2nd up. Given a spell, and as a rule, horses generally come back better 2nd prep. On my ratings, she needs to find 2 lengths to be in the finish, but I think that can happen. Just worried the 900m will be too sharp here as the main concern. EW confidence is 4/10.
**3:57 pm - Doomben - VAUBAN - $10**
A quality race we have been able to win before, and it would be awesome if we could win yet another Group 1. You will know his fate after 200m, I feel here today. He runs his best runs with a gap between them, which he gets, and this has always been the plan. However, with Pride of Jenni in the race, our best hope of winning is to ride him cold AWAY from the speed and to mug them late. I feel Pride of Jenni is a huge risk in the race, and her main danger is a cold-ridden Vauban, with Birdman the other hope. EW confidence is 7/10.
**4:30 pm - Doomben - Lord of Biscay - $18**
He won the $1m Provincial Champ in amazing fashion. He couldn’t go the tear-away speed in the Tamworth Cup, and the big question supporters need to ask is, can he peak again after a long prep? He is much more effective on firm ground, and the soft going may be the issue here. He's classy and good enough on his day. EW confidence is 4/10.
Good luck to all the Connections, Jockeys, and Trainers.
