Welcome to this weekend's edition of the Australian Bloodstock Daily Runners.
Winter is here and the racing still has plenty of depth.
The Australian Bloodstock runners show up in good form and below is Luke's assessment of their chances.
**12.50pm - Scone – Race 4 - Duvana**
He was a cheap buy recently and has already won 2 races and a place from 4 starts, so he is liking his new environment. I like him fresh and first-up here, and he looks a good chance. Another deep race with 6-7 winning chances, he is one of them, but the price is AMAZING and I think he is well worth an each-way play. My confidence in the race is 5/10 simply due to the one trial and the race having so many chances, but I expect he runs well and is worth following.
**2.50pm - Gold Coast – Race 6 - Barazin**
Only 2nd up at 1800m and he finds a race where you could have 8 picks, so plenty of chances. He always takes a few runs, so expect today to be the same. Each-way confidence 5/10.
**3.22pm - Doomben - Race 7 - Royal Supremacy**
A Group 1 winner who has to be respected in everything he runs in, but he was given no chance by the apprentice last start. He has a great record at the trip and from barrier 4, he should be wide and hence looks a BIG improver. Another race with 8 chances, but the soft ground shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Each-way confidence 6/10.
**4.30pm - Scone - Race 10 - Infancy**
Her last two runs have been some of the best of her career – unfortunately, she has been in races that were almost impossible for her to win and this looks a bit the same. Such an amazingly deep race with multiple chances, but these races generally suit the horses up the top of the weights and today looks no different. She is going so well, so expect she runs great, but will it be enough to win? Each-way confidence for me is 5/10.
**4.38pm - Doomben - Race 9 - Accidental Bid**
He's won 2 from 2 in Australia and he was the favourite for the Group 1 SA Derby but didn’t get a run. The worry is he has had the trip to SA, back to Melbourne, and now to QLD, and that’s a damn huge ask for a horse who is 6-9 months YOUNGER than any of his opposition. He is the current favourite for the Group 1 QLD Derby, but I wouldn’t be rushing in to take the $3.50 until you see how he runs here. Was the travel, the time between runs, and now the crappy barrier too much? I think Bookies will take him on and whilst he has undoubted quality, if he is suspect, it's here. $2.80 looks poison despite being the best horse. Win confidence is 5/10.
Good luck to all the Connections, Jockeys, and Trainers.
