Al Riffa's Recent Challenge

Sometimes, things just don't go to plan. That was certainly the case for our promising galloper, Al Riffa, over the weekend. While we didn't get the result we were hoping for, we're confident he'll take a world of improvement from the run.

First up after a spell, Al Riffa found himself in a tricky position, caught three-wide with no cover for a significant portion of the race. To make matters worse, he was chasing a suicidal tempo set by the leaders. It's a tough ask for any horse, let alone one returning from a break.

Compounding these challenges was the disruption to his usual routine in the lead-up to the race. With the track closed, his preparation wasn't as smooth as we would have liked. Horses, like many athletes, are creatures of habit, and this change undoubtedly had an impact.

Despite these hurdles, Al Riffa showed his customary courage. We're confident that with this run now under his belt, and a return to his normal training regime, he'll be back to his best next time out. We're looking forward to seeing him back on the track and demonstrating his true ability.
