Saturday's runners

1.48pm – Eagle Farm – Race 5 – Chillaxing

A last-start winner but, if we're being honest, Lady Luck was doing plenty of the heavy lifting. He gets the run of the race from the draw and horses often take turns winning once they get out to this trip.

If there's any give in the track and he improves a touch, he's definitely a top four and winning chance.

The issue? Trusting him is like lending your ute to your brother-in-law... you'll probably regret it eventually. One week he looks like Winx, the next week he couldn't catch a cold in Antarctica.

4.45pm – Randwick – Race 10 – Miss Busslinger

Back up in grade and this map is uglier than a hat full of busted elbows.

On a day likely to favour those up on speed and hugging the fence, she's drawn to be back, wide and covering extra ground.

That's about as appealing as finding a hair in your meat pie.

YUK!

4.45pm – Randwick – Race 10 – Smashing Time

He's won two of his past three but let's not kid ourselves—they were helped by tracks that suited leaders and races where nothing wanted to chase him.

This sets up similarly and he's in terrific form.

The concern is he's got more mixed form than a DJ on a Friday night. Backing him is a bit like online dating—you hope you're getting what was advertised, but sometimes something completely different turns up.

4.45pm – Randwick – Race 10 – Silvanito

Terrific last-start winner and now over $412,000 in earnings, which proves consistency pays the bills.

He maps to be caught wide but he's one of those horses that seems to enjoy making life difficult. If there was a shortcut, he'd deliberately miss the turn.

He's tougher than a $2 steak and about as straightforward as assembling IKEA furniture after six beers.

6.05pm – Belmont – Race 7 – Spacewalk

A class horse on his day and this race certainly looks suitable.

The elephant in the room is 252 days on the sidelines. On raw ability he can win, but the brain says a rising seven-year-old that's hardly raced in the past 12 months probably needs one under his belt.

It's also been 994 days since his last win, which in racing terms is about three Prime Ministers ago.

Still, not many horses bank $880,000 by accident. If class can overcome fitness, he'll be right in the finish.

5.37pm – Darwin – Race 7 – Stormfront

He's won two from three at the trip, which is the positive.

The negative is both those wins looked like he was running on fumes over the final 100 metres, so this is very much his petrol gauge flashing empty.

First-up he travelled like he had four flat tyres, a handbrake on and the float still attached.

Now he draws barrier 8 in a race with no speed, which probably leaves him parked in no man's land.

To be fair, it's not exactly the Cox Plate... but ICK!!
